Legislative & Public Affairs

Maintaining a robust advocacy program is a top priority for 91ÉÙÅ®, in order to ensure that the voices of both its colleges and students are effectively heard at the local, state, and national levels. As the country's largest community college district, 91ÉÙÅ®'s advocacy program is intently focused on bringing about changes across a host of critical policy areas and securing the resources needed to fulfill the overall mission of all District campuses. Every year, the District's experienced team of advocates represent 91ÉÙÅ® at local government hearings, before the State Legislature and Executive Branch, and at Congressional hearings and the White House.

Call for 2026 Submissions - 91ÉÙÅ®'s Governmental and Legislative Affairs Department is now accepting submissions for legislative proposals for 2026. Deadline to submit is October 30, 2025.

Below is a video highlighting a few of the District's federal, state, and local advocacy efforts. Through this work, the District has achieved significant policy victories that directly benefit 91ÉÙÅ® students and colleges and have benefitted community college students systemwide. These victories are a testament to the collective efforts of our stakeholders and their commitment to our advocacy program.
